Bertha Alicia Alcocer Orozco

Ph.D., Certified Gottman Therapist

Bertha Alicia is a Psychologist, a master in Family Therapy and a doctor in Family Sciences, she has been working with families since 1985, helping them to solve their conflicts and to establish a more functional, loving and caring relationship.

Working with families most of the times leads to work with couples, and so she started to develop a practice in couples counseling. In 2008 she began training as a Gottman Method Couples Therapist and became a Certified therapist in 2017, being the first Mexican to get the certification.

One of the advantages she finds in working with couples is the prevention potential it has: a healthy, functional couple makes a healthy functional family.
Currently, Bertha Alicia works mostly with couples using the Gottman method as the main line, and when necessary, she adds elements of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Structural Family Therapy. She also works with couples in which one member has experienced trauma.

She also has been a teacher in Psychology and Family Sciences in the Anáhuac University in México City since 2007.
