Alan is an accomplished businessman who has built both revenue and reputation for numerous companies and organizations, both in America and abroad. He is responsible for providing management of our overall operations, financial affairs, and strategic development as well as expanding our global sales and outreach. He also provides important leadership for TGI to adapt its offerings to the quickly changing technology-based market.

Etana started The Gottman Institute in 1996 with Drs. John and Julie Gottman. She is a co-owner of the company and has served in a leadership role as Executive Director for many years. She works intimately with the Gottmans in the development of programs and in setting strategic direction. Her business vision and passion for the Gottmans’ work has propelled the Institute into the establishment of an international presence with worldwide recognition. She is responsible for the development and expansion of new business ventures, our global speaker’s bureau and new program offerings. She received an advanced degree in Education from the University of Santa Cruz, CA. She has many years of experience in community and educational program development and as an entrepreneur, has launched numerous companies around the world.

Michael Fulwiler

Michael started with The Gottman Institute as an intern in 2011. After serving as Marketing Director for 4 years, he was named Chief Product Officer in February 2017. As product and marketing team lead, he is responsible for making Gottman relationship tools accessible to the world, positioning The Gottman Institute as an industry innovator and leader. Michael graduated with Honors in English from the University of Washington.

Lindsay started with The Gottman Institute as an intern in 2012 and has worked as part of the Couples Services team and Professional Development team, and in February 2017 was named as the Chief Operations Officer. In her current role, she is responsible for ensuring that The Gottman Institute’s internal functions and processes are effective and efficient by supporting system functioning, employee satisfaction, live events and programming, and interdepartmental communication. Lindsay is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate in private practice.

Kyle is currently pursuing his MA in Counseling Psychology from the Seattle School. In his role as Blog Manager, he writes relatable stories, recruits talented contributors, and shares Gottman research worldwide in publications like Business Insider and The Huffington Post. In his free time you'll find him on the dance floor at a salsa club in Seattle or making a mean frittata for brunch.

Carrie Cole

Research

Carrie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with honors in both her BA in Psychology and her M.Ed. in Psychology with a specialization in Counseling Psychology. In her role as Research Director, Carrie manages and coordinates research projects for The Gottman Institute. She also interfaces with universities around the country in joint research initiatives.

Couples Services

Crystal received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University and has a private practice in Seattle working with couples and individuals. She works in the Couples Department to manage many tasks, including customer service, registration for trainings, helping to coordinate event logistics for couples workshops and referrals to Certified Gottman Therapists.

Caitlin graduated from the University of Washington with a B.D. in Visual Communication Design. In her role as Art Director, Caitlin is responsible for the creative vision and production of all Marketing Department projects, including packaging, displays, print collateral, email campaigns, web design, and graphics for social media.

Hannah Eaton

Hannah received her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of New Hampshire, and her B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont. She manages the Bringing Baby Home and the 7 Principles Leadership training programs, as well as Level 3 clinical training for clinicians. She also coordinates event logistics and registration for professional trainings at The Gottman Institute.

Frank Feng

Frank graduated from Seattle University with a M.A. in Professional Accounting. He is responsible for the oversight of Accounts Receivable/Payable. He manages periodical book closing procedures, including compiling and analyzing financial statements to provide all departments with complete and timely financial data. He also advises on all aspects of accounting processes.

Walter was born and raised in New York City and graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Diversity. He has aspirations to earn his masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in the near future. In his role as Customer Service Coordinator, he is responsible for supporting customer happiness by responding to all customer inquiries, including questions about the store and issues with orders to ensure customer satisfaction.

Kendra Han

Kendra has a B.A. in Environmental Sciences from UC Berkeley, and a Master of Social Work from Columbia University. She has a wealth of social work experience including social work in a hospital setting, family advocacy, community development, Head Start, and she was Program Director for New Futures in Burien for 7 years.

Amy Loftis, MS

Amy is a graduate from the University of Washington holding dual degrees in Anthropology and Business Administration. She also has a Masters in Science from the University of Texas at Austin. In her role as the Director of Professional Development she oversees the educational training programs including Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1, 2, and 3 Clinical Trainings, Certification, and Gottman Specialty Trainings. She is also a point of contact for the Gottman Referral Network. Amy has the pleasure of working with the dedicated and diligent professional development staff.

Jen received her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Colorado. She has a private practice in Seattle where she works with young individuals and couples in seasons of transition. She manages The Gottman Institute’s Certification Track and is the point of contact for the Gottman Referral Network.

Taylor A. Moss

Taylor received her B.S. from Northeastern University in American Sign Language/English Interpreting and received her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle Pacific University. She is a Certified Sign Language Interpreter and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a private practice in Seattle focusing on premarital and couples counseling. She also serves on the Board of the Washington Association for Marriage Family Therapists (WAMFT) as the Associate Representative.

Megan Pedersen

Megan Pedersen, MFA

Megan graduated with Honors from the University of Washington where she double majored in Political Science and Comparative Religion. She also holds an MFA from Columbia University in Creative Nonfiction Writing. In her role as Editor-in-Chief, she is responsible for copyediting all print materials, outbound email marketing campaigns, blog articles, and web copy. She also oversees all print design projects and is actively involved in new product development.

Dave Penner, Ph.D.

Dave oversees clinical aspects of The Gottman Institute, including providing consultation to Certified Gottman Therapists and clinicians in training; selecting and training consultants for clinicians pursuing certification; training and supervising video reviewers who certify therapists in the Gottman Method; overseeing quality control of new programs and products; training and supervising roving therapists at couples workshops; responding to quality concerns about therapists and consultants; and answering clinical questions. He is the author of the Leader’s Guide to The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work. Dave is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been in practice for over 25 years as an individual and couples therapist working in private practice, university, mental health and hospital settings.

Katie provides overall management of contracted speaking and training events by Drs. John and Julie Gottman and our Master Trainers, bringing our talented presenters to organizations around the world. In addition, she coordinates interviews and media appearances for our speakers with journalists and producers to promote and educate audiences about the Gottman Method and the work of The Gottman Institute. Katie graduated with B. A. in Humanities from the University of Washington.

Becca Sangwin

Becca graduated from Western Washington University at the top of her class with a B.A. in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing. She is responsible for strategizing and overseeing all digital and print marketing campaigns for The Gottman Institute, running all of The Gottman Institute's social media platforms, and also serves as webmaster for gottman.com.

Aziza graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Washington. She has experience working in IT management and leads a community group for individuals looking to live simply in the modern world. She focuses on keeping TGI’s products and resources current with a modern edge and supports the Products Department with customer service, managing inventory and digital media product development.

Jackie has a double B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Western Washington University. She works with couples on registration for the Couples Workshops, and referrals to Certified Gottman Therapists. She has worked in a number of human services roles, including work on the crisis hotline and in family advocacy for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Bellingham, and work in chemical dependency services for teenage girls at Sea Mar Visions in-patient youth treatment center in Bellingham.

Allie is the point person for Certified Gottman Therapists as they continue to advance into leadership roles with The Art and Science of Love workshops for couples and Gottman Method Couples Therapy clinical trainings. Allie provides overall management and coordination of the production and distribution of training materials for Gottman workshops around the world. She earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington.
