Reader's Digest Project on Marriage

The Gottman Institute™, and Drs. John and Julie Schwartz Gottman have proudly embarked upon a unique collaboration with Reader's Digest Magazine. The collaboration aims to bring forward information about the state of marriage in America today and about how to make marriages better.

The Marriage Index

The Marriage Index is an annual, scientific public opinion survey conducted by Reader's Digest Magazine. The Index assesses different aspects of how real couples across the country perceive their marriages and values. In 2001, Reader’s Digest in consultation of the Gottmans asked 1000 couples about what they hide and what they tell and the importance of honesty in their marriage. September, 2002, Reader's Digest will release this year's Marriage Index on what makes a successful marriage.
