Nobody goes to war and is left unaffected, and no military family touched by war is left unchanged. The latest statistics show veteran suicides outpacing war casualties. Military divorce rates continue to increase and every person in military families is feeling the impact. According to a RAND study of 1500 military kids ages 11 -17, compared to civilian kids of the same age, children of military families have significantly more emotional and behavioral problems than their non-military peers.
That's why we developed The Kimochis® Activity Kit for Military Families.
The Activity Kit helps build positive, bonding communication skills that keep families connected throughout all phases of the deployment cycle, and increases resiliency in both the service member and their family. Activities and tools help create peace of mind by helping to navigate the challenging feelings that inevitably arise. From daily living to pre-deployment to re-integration, the Kit better prepares the family to:
- Manage emotions and challenges in a way that helps each family member feel understood
- Be supportive, understanding, and compassionate with each other’s emotional needs
- Strengthen parent-child and parent-parent connections
- Unify the family while separated
- Celebrate and reintegrate the service member back home in a way that both honors and guides a positive transition
We are excited and honored to introduce you to the communication tools in this Kit, which will be available in September. The tools can be used by ALL types of families as an ongoing way to playfully and effectively stay connected through the ups and downs of military life.
